HUNT TESTS

  • What is it?

Hunt tests are designed to showcase the PBGV’s natural scenting ability and hunting instincts in a safe, controlled environment. In these tests, dogs work in packs, as a brace of two, or solo to follow the scent of rabbits, demonstrating traits like nose accuracy, voice, line tracking, and teamwork. It’s not about catching the rabbit, but rather finding and alerting to the handler where the rabbit is or is going. Handlers get to see their dogs doing what they were bred for with great enthusiasm and joy.

  • Is it fun?

Yes! Hunt tests are a lot of fun, for both the dogs and their people! PBGVs get to do what they were born to do; follow their nose and hunt as a team. It’s exciting to watch their instincts come alive, and nothing quite compairs to the unbridalled joy you hear as they use their voice when they are on pursuit. Plus, the community is incredibly welcoming and supportive, making it a great way to connect with other PBGV lovers.
